Boshoco
Operating under the Boshoco moniker, Philippe Zarif, a Syrian music producer, DJ and human rights lawyer, has performed on stages around the world before returning home to become one of the pioneers of the new era of dance music in Syria.
Raised in Aleppo, a city rich in culture and music, Philippe continuously finds inspiration in his surroundings to create a unique style stemming from a playful fusion of leftfield electronic dance music and contemporary music from the Arab region. Boshoco's sounds are imbued with rhythms, melodies and grooves incessantly enriched by his collaboration with artists and producers in the Arab World.
Mamdouh
Mamdouh‬†[LB,SE]‬†has‬†been‬†a‬†significant‬†figure‬†in‬†Gothenburg’s‬†arts‬†&‬†music‬†scenes‬†since‬ arriving‬†in‬†Sweden‬†as‬†an‬†immigrant‬†in‬†2017.‬†Known‬†for‬†his‬†DJ-ing‬†and‬†commitment‬†to‬ leading‬†diversity‬†in‬†the‬†cultural‬†scene,‬†Mamdouh‬†has‬†organized‬†events‬†and‬†booked‬†artists‬ from across the EU as well as playing in cities throughout the Nordic region and beyond.‬
Being‬†true‬†to‬†his‬†roots‬†with‬†his‬†exceptional‬†style‬†that‬†can‬†frequently‬†be‬†taken‬†inspiration‬ from‬†contemporary‬†electronic‬†dance‬†music‬†combined‬†with‬†a‬†taste‬†of‬†the‬†tradition‬†&‬ nostalgia‬†of‬†West‬†Asia,‬†North‬†Africa‬†&‬†Levant,‬†he‬†promises‬†a‬†genre-defying‬†borderless‬ musical‬†experience.‬†Mamdouh‬†has‬†shared‬†the‬†stage‬†with‬†notable‬†artists‬†like‬†Acid‬†Arab,‬ Ammar‬†808,‬†and‬†DJ‬†Swisha,‬†while‬†making‬†impactful‬†appearances‬†at‬†renowned‬†festivals‬ such as Norway’s Oslo World Music Festival and Finland’s Nordic Culture Festival
Dj Bey
A personal side project of DJ Emrah Goktas, DJ Bey brings novelty to the international House Music scene combining traditional Turkish sound with Western theory. Raising in a household where ‚‘arabesque‘‘ has been a huge part of life honed his unique style of music. Often inspired by early Turkish music, cinema and poetry, his sound unearths the hidden treasures and back alleys of the country’s artistic heritage. He combines a myriad of organic overtones with smooth psychedelic and textured deep beats paired with Middle Eastern instrumentation.
His performances lend the foreign audience an insider’s look into the country’s musical repertoire while carrying the local audience back to their roots and surprising them with his novel touch.
DIARFEST is an artists collective based in Hamburg, cofounded by Hanadi Chawaf (artist) and Osama Horani (designer), working on arab style concerts and events, focusing on visual art concepts and installations alongside collective memory from the SWANA* culture to create a unique party atmosphere. SWANA = South West Asia North Africa.
Hanadi and Osama are based in Hamburg since +10 years, Germans with Syrian roots, and have been working on this project for +2 years now. It started with the intention of representing Arabic art and culture in Germany in a proper, modern, and friendly way. They created an international and SWANA community in Hamburg that is based on tolerance and acceptance. This project is queer-friendly, and it’s getting bigger with every event or concert; till now, we‘ve made 18 different events in six different locations such as Knust and MS Stubnitz. This project is being built from scratch, and it is totally independent.
