Der in Berlin ansässige Multi-Instrumentalist, DJ und Produzent M.RUX kreiert klingende Ambivalenzen: Während er sein Publikum in schweißtreibende Ekstase versetzt, schaut er selbst mit gekreuzten Beinen und sanft wippend aus der Ferne herüber.
Seit mittlerweile 10 Jahren bewegt sich Marten Rux mit seinem Projekt M.RUX im Spannungsfeld zwischen kontemporärer elektronischer Musik und Leftfield- Soundlandschaften. So entstanden seit 2013 zahlreiche Veröffentlichungen mit seinem unverkennbarem Stil als Produzent, Editor, DJ & Komponist. Zuletzt erschien 2020 mit »Vermonische Melodien« ein Konzept-Album auf dem Hamburger Label Pingipung, welches eine weitere Seite des Projektes dokumentierte. Auf dem neuen, mit Spannung erwartetem dritten Album werden all diese facettenreichen Welten auf beeindruckende Weise zusammengeführt.
M.RUX vereint seine Lieblingsfunde aus der Musikgeschichte mit dem, was er für die Zukunft der Musik voraussagt, und zollt beiden Respekt. So entsteht ein neuer Sound, der sich irgendwo zwischen abstrakter Psychedelic, voodooeskem Downbeat und subtilen Breakbeats etabliert.
Marten Rux erklärt: "Ich war immer neugierig auf musikalische Visionen aus den 70er Jahren". Sein Solodebüt als Produzent gab er 2016 mit der EP "In the Hold" auf seinem eigenen Label YNFND. Zusammen mit Raz Ohara & DJ Lotti veröffentlichte er bereits 2011 das Album "Local Jet Set" als Teil von The Sorry Entertainers. Dieses Album gilt als Meilenstein der gedrosselten Tanzunterhaltung und wurde auf dem Label Shitkatapult veröffentlicht. Im Jahr 2020 erschien sein erstes vollständiges Album "Vermonische Melodien" auf Pingipung, welches konzeptionell mit alten VERMONA-Maschinen aus Ostdeutschland entstanden ist. "Relikte aus einer Epoche vor meiner Zeit - ich wollte herausfinden, wie Musik zu dieser Zeit hätte klingen können". Zuvor hatte er bereits mit seinen zahlreichen Re- & DJ-Mixes Aufmerksamkeit erregt, in denen er Songs von Künstlern wie Nina Simone, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Ze und vielen anderen in sanfte dancefoortaugliche Perlen verwandelte.
Marten Rux ist nicht nur ein origineller Produzent, sondern auch ein geschickter Remixer. Sein Output wird von denen geschätzt, die nach einer Playlist für eine intime Party oder einfach nach etwas zum Entspannen suchen. Vor allem aber wirkt seine Musik trotz dezenter Analog-Patina und dem einen oder anderen Rückgriff auf Synth-Pop und Achtziger-Ethno-Fantasien nicht vorgestrig, sondern angenehm milde aus der Zeit gefallen. In 2020, they released their debut album on the Russian label Leveldva, followed by various singles and EPs, either self-released or distributed through the imprints Urban Cosmonaut Radio and Drosssel. While their upcoming releases will differ significantly, the distinctive sound of ali dada will remain unmistakable.
Three Swiss instrumentalists, two from Zürich and one from the Swiss hinterland, first crossed paths at Berlin's Klunkerkranich in 2018. They later reunited in Switzerland to jam and performed their first gig in 2019.
Members and Contributions * Orlando Ludens: The musical brain, infusing the band’s music with atmospheric guitar riffs. * Max Licht (aka Michi): Known for his dynamic performances with a brass band, Max brings a rich, brassy texture to the mix, particularly with his skill on the trombone. * Rulla (Schuh/MF Jäger): A passionate project creator, Rulla contributes beats, field recordings and ambient soundscapes, using Ableton to craft the rhythmic backbone of ali dada's music.
The 2024 summer album 'SUM' will be released in early autumn, featuring boom bap hip-hop beats, wind instruments, experimental ambient sounds, everything enhanced with autotune, and a touch of jazz. Nice music for niche people.

MAUGLI blends vibrant sounds and driving rhythms from all over the globe. With a background as a drummer and of various styles, his genre-bending music blends sampling and recording into a lively collage. His crisp arrangements balance an electronic yet organic feeling.
His debut album “Alba” (translated from Italian as “sunset“) is inspired by traditional music and the dance rituals of various Afro cultures and their diaspora such as capoeira, work songs or gnawa. While seeking to translate their spirit into the present day, MAUGLI combines these elements with electronic music, wobbling synthesizers and stomping beats.
“Ladainha” is a soulful homage to the capoeira culture featuring Professor Chipreu PDM and "Baksheesh" to the rich American blues tradition, with hypnotic synth riffs and chopped up guitar licks resolving in a south african chant (recorded in the late 1950s).
“Mizan” opens with a pounding Guembri (a traditional gnawa three-stringed lute) accompanied by it’s descendant the ’banjo‘, allowing the sampled berber vocals to shine through.
“Rawa’s” striking guitar riff is set up against biting synth blobs and piano chords, Nigerian fiddles and chants that swing us deeply into the groove.
