Lia Kohl Lia Kohl is a cellist, composer, and sound artist based in Chicago. Her wide-ranging practice includes solo composition and performance, installation, improvisation, and collaboration. She tours nationally and internationally, working in theater, jazz, rock, and experimental contexts. Her work centers curiosity and patience, an exploration of the mundane and profound possibilities of sound. New album 'Normal Sounds' (Moon Glyph Records) released in summer 2024.
In radiogegenteil, a musical experiment unfolds that questions the limits of hearing itself. Vocals, electronics and recorders merge in concert to create a world of sound that moves between the audible and the inaudible: Carolin Daub: flutes, Karera Fujita: vocals, Lorenz Lehmann: live electronics.

Lia Kohl
Lia Kohl is a cellist, composer, and multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago. She creates and performs sonic landscapes utilizing cello, synthesizers, field recordings, and live radio to explore the mundane and profound possibilities of sound. She has presented work and performed at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Walker Art Center, Chicago Symphony Center, and Eckhart Park Pool. Recent releases include The Ceiling Reposes on American Dreams Records and Normal Sounds, on Moon Glyph. She was the 2023/24 Wave Farm Radio Art Fellow.
Her work has been featured in Pitchfork, The Quietus, The Chicago Tribune, The Wire, and Downbeat Magazine, and on NPR, NTS Radio, Kunstradio, and WFMU. Recent collaborative releases include duos with Macie Stewart (Astral Spirits), Honestly Same (Moonglyph), and ZRL (American Dreams Records).
As an improviser and collaborator, she has participated in cultural exchanges in Mexico, France, Germany, Denmark, China and the UK, and toured on four continents. An active recording artist, she has arranged strings and recorded with Makaya McCraven, Circuit des Yeux, Steve Gunn, claire rousay, and Steve Hauschildt, among others. As a sound and visual artist, she has presented gallery shows at Roman Susan Art Foundation and Experimental Sound Studios’ Audible Gallery. She has been a resident artist at ACRE, Vashon Artist Residency, High Concept Labs, dfbrl8r Performance Art Gallery, Mana Contemporary, Stanford University, and Mills College. She tours regularly with puppet theater company Manual Cinema.
radiogegenteil
In „Radiogegenteil” entfaltet sich ein musikalisches Experiment, das die Grenzen des Hörens selbst hinterfragt. Gesang, Elektronik und Blockflöten verschmelzen im Konzert zu einer Klangwelt, die sich zwischen dem Hörbaren und dem Unhörbaren bewegt. Es geht nicht um den musikalischen Teppich, der als Hintergrund fungiert. Stattdessen wird Klang zum zentralen Akteur: mal chaotisch und aufwühlend, mal zart und kaum wahrnehmbar. Lärm und Stille treten in Dialog – zwei Pole, die sich auflösen und ineinander übergehen. Wo beginnt der Klang? Und wo endet er? Und vor allem: Wann hört das Hören auf? „Radiogegenteil” ist ein Spiel mit den Erwartungen des Publikums. Es stellt die Frage: Was bleibt, wenn wir die Stille nicht mehr nur als Abwesenheit von Geräusch, sondern als Möglichkeit zum bewussten Hören begreifen?
- Carolin Daub widmet sich als Blockflötistin sowohl der Alten als auch der Neuen Musik, mit besonderem Fokus auf experimentelle Musik, freie Improvisation und interdisziplinäre Kunstprojekte. Ihre künstlerische Ausbildung begann Carolin Daub an der HMDK Stuttgart, wo sie im Masterstudium Blockflöte mit Auszeichnung abschloss, gefolgt von Studiensemestern an der ESMAE in Porto und der ZHdK in Zürich sowie einem spezialisierten Masterstudium in Neuer Musik an der UdK in Berlin. Als Solistin und Mitglied verschiedener Ensembles tritt Carolin Daub regelmäßig im In- und Ausland auf. Neben ihrer Konzerttätigkeit ist Carolin Daub Vorstandsmitglied des Stuttgarter Kollektivs für Aktuelle Musik e.V. und hat seit 2024 einen Lehrauftrag für das Hauptfach Blockflöte an der HMDK Stuttgart inne.

- Karera Fujita studierte BA Gesang an der Hochschule für Musik und Bildende Kunst der Aichi-Präfektur in Japan und absolvierte die Studiengänge MA Neue Musik Gesang und MA Liedgestaltung an der HMDK Stuttgart. Sie nahm erfolgreich an mehreren internationalen Wettbewerben teil u. a. am 16. Internationalen Wettbewerb Osaka (Espoir-Preis), und erreichte den 5. Platz beim 3. Klassischen Musikwettbewerb in Japan. Sie konzertiert regelmäßig als Sängerin von Neuer Musik und als Liedsängerin in Europa und Japan. In München debütierte sie bei Gerhard Stäblers Musiktheater „Simon“ in der Hauptrolle an der Schauburg.

- Lorenz Lehmann studierte Komposition bei Prof. Marco Stroppa und Prof. Dr. Carlo Forlivesi an der HMDK Stuttgart. In seinen Arbeiten, die er bereits u. a. auf dem IRCAM-Forum in Paris vorstellte, spielen häufig die Stimme und die Elektronik eine zentrale Rolle. Für sein Stück „Lamento“ wurde er 2021 mit dem Bruno-Maderna-Award in der Kategorie „Electronic Music“ des Wettbewerbs „Unique Forms“ ausgezeichnet. Wichtige Impulse für sein kompositorisches Schaffen erhielt er u. a. durch die regelmäßige Zusammenarbeit mit Angelika Luz, Cornelis Witthoefft und Marlon Schumacher. Aktuell studiert er Musiktheorie an der Musikhochschule Mannheim bei Prof. Dr. Michael Polth.

Kris Kuldkepp
Kris Kuldkepp is a sound and performance artist based in Hamburg, Germany. Her work explores the perception, materiality, and behavior of sound and its resonance in physical spaces. Additionally, her work strives towards non-authoritarian musical forms and spaces that balance between meaning and noise. After years dedicated to classical and early music performance on the double bass and viola da gamba, her working methods now include improvisation, deep listening and attention to singular sounds. The main tools she employs are various string basses, early music instruments, and a modular synthesizer in combination with found objects, motors, and other noisemakers. Kris has performed at the international festivals such as Brutal Assault (CZ), KLANGHAUS (AT), Papiripar, Blaues Rauschen, Blurred Edges, klub katarakt (DE), JAUNA MUZIKA (LT), Sound of Stockholm (SE), Piksel, Ultima (NO), Üle Heli and Estonian Music Days (EE). Her debut album “Moonutatud Muundused / Distorted Conversions” was met with swift critical acclaim by the experimental music community. Her recent collaborators include Lisa Pottstock, Jeff Surak, The Ensemble of Estonian Electronic Music Society, Catalina Rueda and MOLJEBKA PVLSE. In addition to artistic work, she is part of the curating team of Hörbar — experimental music association in Hamburg.
