Kara Delik

Not content with spanning continents, musical genres, time periods, and the universe, Kara Delik is responsible for conjuring up a dynamic, contemporary psychedelic Anatolian, post-punk dub sound. The combined output of a set of musicians, each with their own stylistic legacy, have manifested something that is uniquely new and energetic, yet rooted in specific zeitgeists and timeframes, narrating the history of Anatolian rock, Krautrock, and dub, all delivered with a zesty, and explosive live punch. Founded in 2020, the Anatolian post-punk, Kraut-Welle, psych-dub, sounds of Kara Delik can be likened to that of Lee Scratch Perry, Jaki Liebezeit, and Barış Manço forming a supergroup in modern day Kreuzberg. Exploding onto the Berlin scene with their debut EP "Tamam", the band took their sounds across the continent, later rewarding fans with a tetralogy of EPs, entitled "Singularities". The international trio of Barış Öner [Istanbul Ghetto Club] on saz, Andi Sommer [Henry Fonda, Yacht Communism] on bass and synths, and drummer Eilis Frawley [Anika, Laura Lee & The Jettes] interweave energetic, complex rhythms, soundscapes, and effects, creating an industrious post-punk melee of Anatolian heat. Live, the band’s sharp dynamics, tight instrumentation, and spirited performances have won them a diverse following of those who love post-punk, dance music, and Turkish melodics. To date, they have appeared on festival line-ups across the continent, including c/o Pop, Ment, Fusion, Entropie, Garbicz, Grauzone, amongst others, while playing support to the like of Minami Deutsch, Tropical Fuck Storm, Squid, Derya Yidirim, Derya Yildirim & Grup Şimşek and 10000 Russos.
