Lord Buffalo (Austin, Texas) is heavy in the way that ghosts are heavy… in the way that billowing dust is heavy. Their sound flows through us, it doesn’t invite the Pavlovian response of typical heavy rock music. Perhaps it’s fitting then that their new album Holus Bolus (12.07.24, (Blues Funeral Recordings) takes its name from an antiquated term meaning “all at once.”… with droning violin, guitars, drums and vocals, they draw equally from Morricone and Badalamenti as from Sabbath and Swans.

Orsak:Oslo plays a melancholic brew of psych, kraut, post-rock and doom with gentle fuzz-filled melodies and a noticeable nordic atmosphere. The band was founded by Christian from Gothenburg, Sweden and Øyvind from Oslo, Norway. Their debut album in 2023 gained a huge echo. Next album slated for a spring/summer 2025 release (Vinter Records).

Lord Buffalo

While the quartet trudges the same murky waters as dark emotive brethren David Eugene Edwards/Woven Hand, Chelsea Wolfe, Emma Ruth Rundle, Earth/Dylan Carlson, Echo & The Bunnymen, Nick Cave, etc., their creative interplay of Middle Eastern influence with a distinctly Western feel takes listeners in entirely new directions as the album envelops them.

Lord Buffalo is Daniel Pruitt (guitar, bass, piano, vocals, melodica), Garrett Hellman (guitar, synth-bass, piano, synths), Patrick Patterson (violin), and Yamal Said (drums, percussion). Holus Bolus was recorded by Danny Reisch and Max Lorenzen at Good Danny's in Lockhart, TX. Mixed by Danny Reisch. Mastered by Max Lorenzen. “While the making of this record feels a bit like a sleep-deprived hallucination to me,” Pruitt says. “Listening to it now, I find it strangely hopeful — there's a kind of release that you hit in exhaustion. I think the record knew what it was after, even if we didn’t. It felt very much like the record just appeared one day, holus bolus.

"Lord Buffalo bauen ihren Americana-Gothic mit Folk- und Blueselementen weiter aus. Das Album lebt vor allem von einer gewissen unbehaglichen Stimmung, die an Kunstwerke von Hieronymus Bosch erinnern soll. Auch wenn der Albumname vermuten lässt, dass hier alles auf einmal auf einen einbricht, ist das nicht der Fall." - Visions

Orsa Oslo

Orsak:Oslo plays a melancholic brew of psych, kraut, post-rock and doom with gentle fuzz-filled melodies and a noticeable nordic atmosphere. The band was founded by Christian from Gothenburg, Sweden and Øyvind from Oslo, Norway. Their debut album In Irons has been making waves since its release in April 2023, garnering stellar reviews from The Obelisk, Everything is Noise, Luminous Dash, Echoes and Dust, and many other esteemed publications. Also, the album has gained significant playlist placements, including features on Roadburn Festival's "Roadburn: Essential Sounds" and Weedian's "Best Releases of the Week." They've since rocked the stages at Freak Valley, GIDEM (Border Music's international industry gathering), Desertfest London, and Desertfest Oslo, propelled by the momentum of the debut. They also supported King Buffalo (US) on a brief chunk of their 2023 EU tour. At the moment, Orsak:Oslo is back in the studio, finishing their next album slated for a spring/summer 2025 release. The band is currently signed to the Norwegian label Vinter Records.

"With this record in their pockets, it is only a matter of time before the doors of the bigger venues and festivals in Europe will open their doors to them." (Weirdo Shrine)
