That same Street is the solo-project of Dex, who also plays in the Japanese Emoviolence/Screamo Outfit Moreru. riot but cut., the young emo-punk band from Dortmund, is more than just a musical phenomenon - it embodies a unique blend of energy and tenderness. But behind this artistic duality lies a deeper dimension: a message of revolutionary love and friendship. Beach Church formed in something like 2005 as young teens.
That same Street
In That same Street, Dex combines the high-pitched screams popularized by Bands likeFlowers Taped to Pens or Your arms are my Cocoon, a wide array of instrumental Influences from Midwest Emo (ボーカロイドの涙) to Electronic Vocaloid Music (iARA) and most importantly the iconic voice of the popular Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.
With his 3rd full EP “Mikramz” he refines his off-kilter mix of clean Vocaloid Vocals and Screams into his most complete project to date. His live performances are loud, extreme and frankly captivating in a way you probably have never seen before
riot but cut.
The music of riot but cute. is an impressive tapestry of sound, underpinned by emo and post hardcore elements. Never staying in just one genre, 'riot but cute.' creates anatmosphere that invites you to dance and sing along. But the true strength of their music lies in the emotional intensity that permeates every song.
The band members of 'riot but cute.' are not only musical partners, but also companions on a shared path of resistance and change. Their deep connection is based on a shared vision of a world where equality and love are the norm. This attitude is not only reflected in their lyrics, but also permeates every aspect of their work.
Their live performances are an experience for the senses, with the band members engaging the audience with their passionate performance while creating space for moments of calm and reflection. It is this unique duality and their revolutionary message that makes 'riot but cute.' an indispensable voice in the music scene and extends their appeal across genre boundaries.
Beach Church
Formed in something like 2005 as young teens but quickly disbanding after surprising and overwhelming underground success on platforms like MySpace and Pure Volume that was never meant to be, Beach Church are back to spread the twinkle and colour in the blank space between Post Midwest Emo to Leftfield Math Pop. Beach Church decided to ditch traditional band structures with their reunion and now act as an open collective with shifting musical lineups and vocalists from across the current german-speaking DIY- and Emo scene. Strictly DIY and decidedly oddball, their ever-changing, complex and highly melodic (real fake) emo songs never sound the same. The results are just as gripping as they’re irritating and bemusing for everyone involved.
