HHY & the Kampala Unit
Initiated by musician and artist Jonathan Saldanha (HHY & The Macumbas) during his Nyege Nyege residency, HHY & The Kampala Unit is a futuristic exploration of a fresh, yet submerse territory in music mixing up dub, techno, traditional drumming and elements of trance over ghostly and unnerving cinematic passages. A collaborative venture featuring visionary Saldanha on electronics and production with fierce trumpet player and ghetto activist Florence Lugemwa. Physical in its tactility and effect and highly evocative, all tracks are a gorgeous blending of cerebral virtuosity, cosmic creativity, raw energy and visceral sensuality that is majestically sculpted with haunting marching sounds, mutating percussive rhythms, variations and reprises against cascading electronics and rich, technicolor textures. A dramatic intensity builds up over time generating tension between rupture and stability, subtext and hyper-realism. Mesmerizing and infectious.

LEANOR WOLF
Their avant-garde style highlights the bass guitar and drum machines, woven together with analog gear and synthesisers to create a cinematic "romance noir" sound—distinctive, dynamic, and irresistibly captivating.
United in their mission to create a revolutionary sound and drawing inspiration from the recording techniques and vibrant, experimental aesthetic of the 1970s — capturing live performances in a single take without edits and embracing an “outside-the-box” approach — Leanor Wolf capture the raw essence of creativity and artistic vulnerability.
With cutting-edge technology and a passion for pushing limits, Leanor Wolf has crafted an instrument that mirrors their vision. A seamless fusion of machines, effect processors, and groundbreaking recording techniques, designed to create sounds never before heard. It’s an instinctive and bold creation, straddling the line between technical mastery and an unrelenting artistic journey.
After three years of experimentation, composition, and deep exploration — marked by hours of listening and recording — Leanor Wolf have developed a live performance, a story told through original, intricate, and intense music, with a sound that defies categorisation and blurs all the boundaries.
