TAVARE
Tavare began playing together in Berlin in 2020, making stripped-down, minimal music–slow, fragmentary songs with sparse vocal lines and harmonies – evoking both a retro'90s slowcore sound and contemporary pop forms and structures. The trio released a debut 7”, 'Ghosts', in November 2024 on the UK label Champion Version and will release their full-length album, 'Too Small To Be So High', in spring 2025. The trio consists of Aidan Baker, originally from Canada but based in Berlin for over a decade, who makes music ranging from ambient/experimental to post-rock to drone-jazz, both solo and with various groups, mostly notably the dreamsludge duo Nadja; Tristen Bakker, also from Canada, who makes soft-noise, prog, ambient and punk music as a solo artist and with groups such as VROUW! and Otolitos; and Angela Muñoz, a musician, dancer and performer from Spain, who plays with several groups ncluding nunofyrbeeswax, VROUW! and (also with Aidan) Hypnodrone Ensemble.
Halma
Founded in 2000, HALMA quickly abandoned conventional song structures to follow loop-like, electronica-inspired paths. With a classic rock line-up (guitars, bass, drums), the band develops its music from improvisation: In the flow of playing, musical themes emerge that form the building blocks for the composition of later songs. HALMA transfer the mechanisms of electronic music into an analogue band structure.
