Jesper Munk - there is almost nobody in the German indie scene who´s never heard of him. But where to start, how to categorise and where to end? Jesper Munk is far from finished, quite the opposite. At the age of 31, the search for his own sonic landscape has proven successful, which becomes very clear at his concerts aswell as on record. A lot has happened in the last 12 years and Jesper's story is one of many ups and downs, shifts and turns, from the bluesy supernova to a hip but underrated crooner, from a teenage poster boy to an established and matured singer/songwriter.

Berlin based Meagre Martin (Mansions and Millions) will start this concert night: Ride joyfully through sludgy textures, raw honesty and your traumas!

Jesper Munk

Jesper Munk! In 2024, the German-Dane, who lives in Berlin, is taking off again in all his facets. He has reconciled himself with parts of his early work, especially to the great delight of his blues fans, whom he inspired right at the beginning of his career as tour support for Eric Burdon, among others. Which is why all those who have sorely missed the classics from "Morning Coffee" and "Clean" to "Shakespeare And Heartbreak" and "Courage For Love" at his concerts in recent years will now get their money's worth again. In total, Jesper Munk can look back on just over 40,000 records sold and with the streaming monopolist alone, he has a total of 36 million streams, with just under 150,000 monthly listeners and almost 40,000 followers. In 2019, Jesper Munk co-founded the post-punk/kink-jazz underground band P.D.O.A. (Public Display Of Affection) and shortly afterwards also joined the Berlin art-noise cult band Plattenbau. Both bands definitely had a positive influence on his musical horizon and the future prospects of his solo career.

Jesper Munk has also recorded a new album. After the highly acclaimed cover album "Taped Heart Sounds", he is back, this time with his own songs. "YESTERDAZE" will be released in October 2024 with its delicate lo-fi vs hi-fi production that warms the soul and heart of every indie aficionado. The production was handled by Jesper himself this time around. It features a colourful crooner's bouquet somewhere between jazz and new wave, chanson, balladic blues and plenty of soul. He was once again supported by The Cassette Heads, who will also accompany him live on tour.

Meagre Martin

Berlin-based songwriter-turned-trio Meagre Martin was founded in the summer of 2021 by the African-American musician and songwriter Sarah Martin (guitar, she/her) and quickly joined by Federico „Freddy" Corazzini (drums, he/him) and Max Hirtz-Wolf (bass, he/him). Blending together elements of lo-fi and new-Americana, Meagre Martin is a culmination of experience rooted in healing, through lyricism that gives nostalgia new layers and harnesses the power of grief. Their debut "Gut Punch" (release in November 2023 via Mansions and Millions) create a sound inspired by shoegaze, 90’s indie, or 'faux country,' as the band calls it, and juxtaposes these beautifully light soundscapes with lyrics that belie the sweetness of the sound with their vulnerability and depth. Their release “Malcom” (2024) addresses financial instability and the vibrancy of lower/middle class American life. Inspired by the relatable chaos of "Malcolm in the Middle." The lyrics mirror a journey from generational trauma to breaking free. Their single “Never Thought" (September 2024) questions how well we know the people in our lives, and how our security in them can still be shaken even after years of knowing them. The chords and melodies encircle and repeat, much like the rumination of thoughts in our heads. Latest release "Up To Snuff " is from February 2025.
