hubris. is a Swiss post-rock band originating from Fribourg. Formed in 2014, the instrumental band is characterised by their original style which blends an experimental touch of post-rock, electronica atmosphere and some elements of the progressive and metal scene. They have released four albums to date with a fifth already in the making - "White Shores" will be released later this year.
A Swarm Of The Sun
Formed in Stockholm, Sweden; Erik Nilsson and Jakob Berglund have been producing inimitable, sombre soundscapes as A Swarm of the Sun since the early 2000s. A series of monumental albums, 2010’s groundbreaking debut ‘Zenith’, post-metal masterpiece ‘The Rifts’ in 2015 and its breathtakingly stark follow up ‘The Woods’ in 2019 have seen the understated outfit carve out their own uncompromisingly bleak place within the international heavy scene.
With each release, the band has evolved, pushing the boundaries of their sonic palette. ‘An Empire’, their upcoming fourth studio album, is a six-track tale told in four distinct movements that are nothing short of devastating, from plaintive piano ballads to raw, full-band fury. Joined by a cadre of talented collaborators, the album unfolds as a haunting narrative, weaving droning textures with brooding instrumentations that leaves latent space for Jakob’s voice to shine.
‘An Empire’ is released on Pelagic Records and marks a significant evolution of A Swarm of the Sun’s already indelible post-metal sound. With increasingly bleak times forcing the band to reassess their relationship with creativity and suffering, this new body of work captures all the anthemic, intimate highs and crushing, debilitating lows of modern life on a knife edge.

They draw their inspiration from artists like Woodkid, Jon Hopkins or The Contortionist amongst others. With their style evoking introspection, hubris. characterise themselves with the length of their compositions, allowing a range of evolving emotions through softness and power. Sometimes compared with other artists like Sigur Rós or Long Distance Calling, the band calls forth emotions of its audience due to a heterogeneous musical landscape mixing poetic ambiance and raw energy.
