Which makes it strange, and kind of perfect, that the Indonesian community in Hamburg is taking over an 80-meter ex-fishing ship to throw its loudest night of the year.
On September 5, the MS Stubnitz becomes a Pasar Ikan: an Indonesian fish market, the kind where the noise is the point. Twelve hours from sunset to last call, a crossing that never leaves the harbor.
And this year, JASON RANTI is flying in from Indonesia. One of the sharpest songwriters in the country, on a ship in Hamburg, for one night only.
But a fish market is never only one thing, and this isn’t only music. Between the sets you can get a haircut from Matahari Hairstyling, walk in for a tattoo with Bhinnekayon Tattoo from Berlin @bhinnekayon, print your own shirt, or get your face done in UV light. There’s Indonesian food from five stalls, pop-up coffee, tarot readings, live a cappella, a music competition open to anyone, and a lot more we haven’t announced yet.
Then the party. Dari Hati Collective, Wahsabi from Berlin, and Boboho Karaoke until 3am. Prepare your song.
